Description

A truly beautiful, but rarely imaged planetary nebula in the constellation of Serpens Cauda, discovered it in 1954 by Yerkes and McDonald. It is also known as RCW 181 or PN G038.7+01.9

Yerks-McDonald 16 is about 5-6 arcmins in size. The Ha signal is rather strong, Oiii being a bit fainter and more concentrated to the center of the nebula.

All exposures are unguided 120s at f/2 and binned 1x1. A dynamic combination of Ha and Oiii was used, introducing more orange-yellow than a normal HOO-palette does. Image is cropped and drizzled.
